I will meet the group in Jürmala near Riga. Driving to Latvia sounds easy, and I guess, looking at what is coming, it is. But it’s already a 2500 Km drive. With quitschi I need several days for this. Luckily I have 10 full days to get there. I already did that last year, so I’ve chosen a slightly different route:
I wanted to visit Neuschwanstein Castel, no clue why, it looks awesome on pictures. Well, it kinda sucks really. There was like a 2 hour queue for tickets, and the castel is, nice, but there a lots of nice castles in Europ.
But I have to say that driving through Allgäu was very nice, it’s a beautiful landscape and great for a hike. I’ve spend my night on a camping in Wikiehofen. Apparently they are quite prod of the name and organise a Wikingfestival once a year. The club organising the festival is called Promillos, I’m not too said that I’ve missed the party…
I’ve realised one thing: If I would keep up the speed and visit this damn tourist attractions I will need a month to get up to Riga. So I’ve hit the German Autobahn once again and drove pretty straight from München to Berlin. Which was nice because there is a 3 lane freeway all the way through. But as I have not seen much else than roads there isn’t much to report yet. I’ve had one day break which I’ve spent at a stunningly beautiful lake in Poland where I’ve made a little quitschi introduction video.
I’m now 2.5 hours away from Jürmala-Riga where I’ll meet the rest of the group. We will be 8 cars, 5 Toyota Landcruiser, 1 Landrover Defender, 1 VW Amarok and a Mitsubishi L300. I’m a bit nervous but looking forward to not been alone any longer.
